Who we are

Grace FMC is a spirit-filled and Scripture based church in McConnell, IL.  Our goal is to follow Christ in all we do and to worship His Holy name as we try to be the hands and feet of Jesus in McConnell and the surrounding communities.   We are a Free Methodist Church set in a small community that is centered in the upper part of Illinois just minutes away from the Wisconsin border.

What does it mean to be Free Methodist

So what does it mean when we say Free Methodist – what does the Free Methodist believe? Hopefully we can give you a better understanding of what the Free Methodist church believes. Let's begin with the Apostles' Creed.

The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God The Father, Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord: Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, Suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; the third day he arose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.

Amen.

What we believe

God
There is one God who created everything, who loves us deeply, and who desires to have a relationship with all people.

Jesus
The expression of God's love for us – the Son of God – whose life, death, and resurrection made it possible for us to have a relationship with God.

Holy Spirit
God with us. The Holy Spirit lives in all those who believe that Jesus was who He said He was and who follow Him. The Holy Spirit comforts, counsels, convicts, guides and points people toward God.

Bible
Not merely a piece of literature, but a major way God actively speaks to people – The Bible tells the story of God's relationship with people, how it was broken, and what God did to make it possible again. It teaches us how we can have a relationship with God and experience the fullness of life that follows.

People
We all want to feel loved and accepted. We look for all sorts of things to make us feel “ok” and too often find they leave us empty. What we all need is to have a relationship with the God who loves us.

The Church
Those who try to live like Jesus lived. The church isn't perfect. It needs the Holy Spirit to lead, guide, and correct it as it tries to be like Jesus. At it's best, the church is an example in the world of mercy, grace, generosity, love, servanthood, and devotion to God.
