"Quest For Truth!"
A Word From Digger
Hello from me, Digger the Dog,
I had a wonderful week at VBS this year. I was able to go around visiting with all of you and helped out whenever I could. We started the nights out with Joe and I talking about what we had found with the different artifacts and glyphs. Then we would sing with Julie and Ahnriel, but lets not forget about Cindy too. Of course I would help out singing as best a dog could. Then during the night I was able to stop and see all of you and what you were learning. Let’s see, I was at the games, Bible memory, Stories and of course the treats. I enjoyed the treats with the preschoolers.
Where should I start. Well, the games were a lot of fun with Pastor Mann. He would come up with the best games. They were always right with the truth. One day we even played soccer where we had to stay on chairs. It made the game more challenging but a lot of fun.
Oh, then I went to the preschoolers and we worked on Bible memory of my favorite verse – John 6:47 where Jesus said “I tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life.” We kept saying it over and over to help us learn the verse. Leah and Savanna loved to jump and play with me while learning about Jesus, they were fun to play with. Amy; Nikki; Pastor Lyle and Janine were wonderful with all those preschoolers.
Then I went to the stories area where Jeannie and Angie told the truth about Jesus and how He healed the 10 lepers. But only 1 came back to thank Him. They told great stories about Jesus. Travis acted out a lot of the people in the stories and helped to make the stories come alive. Then we got to spend some time with Miss Daryl and she would come up with the silliest ideas to help us with our Bible memory. One day she had gotten string and we stood in a big circle and said 1 word in the verse before passing it to the next person – this was about everlasting life. Sandy and Dustin passed out everlasting Gobstoppers with the Bible verse written on the package. This was to show everlasting life. They showed us how we could have fun while learning about Jesus.
Sharon, Lynann and Mindy helped us at treat time. We would all wash our hands and pray before we made our treats. The day we learned about Jesus coming back from the tomb, we made a tomb stone. It was a bagel with pizza sauce, cheese, carrots, black olives and other toppings. This tasted soooooooo good! We also got the greatest cookies – they were great.
Then there were crafts with Shawn, Michelle and Rhonda. I didn’t get to go and see all the colorful items as they made them but I did get to see them after they were done and the crafts looked wonderful. It was so cool. Doug and Cindy went around and took all kinds of pictures. Some of the pictures were for craft projects and some were taken for everyone to see on the web site.
Well, the days came to an end with Joe and me asking you about your adventure. I think Joe must be accident-prone. He fell in a river, fell off a cliff, rode his horse – kind of and blew away in the wind. We did fun and scary things like when we went through a cave and Joe left me behind.
We closed the last day with Joe and I finding the truth keeper artifact. It was the Holy Bible! One thing I forgot to add was that all week we raised money for the kids in the Bheula Farms in the Philippines. We raised enough money to get 33 kids Christmas gifts at $10.00 a gift. And thanks to everyone who helped us raise money on Sunday when we had our closing program, we were able to raise enough money to supply Christmas gifts for all 50 of the kids at the Bheula Farms in the Philippines.
Like I said, it was the very best VBS ever. With love,
Digger the Dog
